The first performances of the “Ring” in 1876 marked a turning point that deeply transformed opera. By realizing his ideal of the total work of art, Wagner created an immersive and innovative experience that continues to fascinate and inspire audiences and artists worldwide. Through excerpts from letters, accounts, and articles, we will relive the “inimitable life” during the first Bayreuth Festival in August 1876, where the “world of the gods” of the first “trilogy in a prologue and three days” met the “earthly world” of princes, emperors, theater directors, patrons, the intellectual and artistic elite of the time — and a few French guests.

Organized by the Cercle Richard Wagner Rive Droite.

Free admission – No reservation required – Subject to availability

The Cercle Richard Wagner Rive Droite was founded in 2010 and is celebrating its fourteenth anniversary this year. Its main goal is to promote 17th-century operas, with a special focus on the lyrical dramas of Richard Wagner, to a wide audience. It is also committed to making Wagner's repertoire and masterpieces accessible to all, in a welcoming environment open to all forms of musical expression. With over two hundred members, it is considered one of the most dynamic and active Wagner circles in France. Today, the CRWRD has become a key player in the region's cultural life.
