La Traviata has quickly established itself as one of the milestones of the repertoire. It's true that never before has Verdi been so natural and moving. To serve this masterpiece, Silvia Paoli sets her staging in the theatrical world of the Belle Époque, where Violetta, like Sarah Bernhardt, moves between glory and rejection. A bare space, dominated by a rickety stage, is the setting for her paradoxes. The festivities spill over boldly, invading the stage and backstage in a whirlwind. To serve this timeless drama, Andrea Sanguineti and Silvia Paoli direct a flamboyant cast: Kathryn Lewek, Julien Behr and Jean-Sébastien Bou.
