Grumpy old Don Pasquale wants to punish his nephew Ernesto and deprive him of his inheritance. To do this, he decides to marry a young girl. But with the help of the petulant Norina and Doctor Malatesta, it's all a bit too much!

Quiproquos, disguises, sham marriages, fools' games... Donizetti has a field day in his ultimate comedy, deploying a score full of verve and good humor. Alongside Giuliano Carella, a great specialist in this repertoire and a loyal member of our company, director Tim Sheader offers an inventive reinterpretation of this opéra-bouffe. In a sparkling staging inspired by the world of TV series, Don Pasquale is transformed into a great company boss, a victim of the illusions of youthism. With characteristic British humor, Tim Sheader exploits all the work's comic strings, offering a vision as original as it is irresistible.

Show in Italian, surtitled in French and English.

Press talks about it!

« Il y a beaucoup de Tim Sheader (…), à commencer par le décor unique, monumental et pivotant, conçu par Leslie Travers. (...) Dans cette mise en scène à gros budget, tout est à l’avenant, et c’est un régal pour les yeux, autant que pour les oreilles. » Nice-Matin

«  There is a lot of Tim Sheader (...), starting with the unique, monumental, rotating set designed by Leslie Travers. (...) In this big-budget production, everything is up to par, and it is a feast for the eyes as well as the ears. »

« Le spectacle est de haute qualité scénique. » Forum Opéra

« The show is of high stage quality. »

« La mise en scène de Tim Sheader, ancien assistant à la fameuse Royal Shakespeare Company, permet de réinterpréter l’ouvrage sans bouleverser les codes du comique ou les attentes du public. » Ôlyrix

« The staging by Tim Sheader, former assistant at the renowned Royal Shakespeare Company, allows for a reinterpretation of the work without disrupting the codes of comedy or audience expectations. »
