Titus, Emperor of Rome, is the target of a plot hatched by the ambitious Vitellia, who wants to marry him. Intrigue, manipulation, love and betrayed friendships, La Clémence de Titus is a hymn to forgiveness and reconciliation. With this masterly masterpiece, Mozart completed his all-too-short career.
Along with The Magic Flute, Titus Clementia is one of Mozart's last operas. With his unrivalled genius, he offers a fresco as brilliant as it is profoundly human. Jean-Philippe Clarac and Olivier Deloeuil reinvent Vitellia as a modern-day First Lady, all glossy smiles and formal elegance. Behind the ceremonial vase emerges an ambitious, manipulative fighter, but also a wounded lover and a complex, terribly endearing woman. A reminder, with the force of Mozart's music, that behind every man of power lies a woman.
Show in Italian, surtitled in French and English.
