Come and immerse yourself in the idyllic but impossible legend of the love of the nymph Galatea for the young shepherd Acis.
Taken from Ovid's Metamorphoses , this idyll is threatened by the Cyclops Polyphemus, who is also in love with the beautiful Galatea. In a jealous rage, Polyphemus crushes Acis under a rock. Galatea, devastated by the pain, transforms Acis into a stream.
The Ensemble européen Mozaïque and the three singers will perform one of the finest moments of music written by Handel in 1736 in a version never performed since.
A masterpiece of Baroque music, come and listen to one of the most beautiful "concentrates" of the most thrilling and exhilarating arias in a drama bursting with vocal colour in all three tessituras: Soprano, Tenor, Bass-Baritone. These three roles will be performed by three young lyrical talents who are beginning to make a name for themselves on European opera stages, and who come from some of Europe's finest ensembles. What's more, Jean Vitez, a great lady of the theatre, will be the narrator to decode this unprecedented lyrical and musical drama.
