FESTIVAL HIP HOP'ERA

The art of movement is an ocular music: it says to the eye what music says to the ear. In the history of dance, currents evolve in parallel, though their meeting points and bridges between them remain rare. Opera is an art form intrinsic to French culture. Its rebellious little brother, from the street, has also come a long way since the 80s, and can now be found in all walks of life as the most popular style of music and dance in the world.

It is in a spirit of openness, connection and sustainability that the Nice Opera opens its doors and invites hip-hop within its walls – above all to its legendary stage, accompanied by its dancers, to create an exceptional artistic connection. The Hip Hop'Era Battle will see the meeting of two universes. In the format of an All Style 2VS2 battle based on hip-hop & classical music, eight classical dancers will be invited to participate in this event. In the afternoon, the jury will choose eight hip-hop dancers during a qualifying round on the forecourt of the Nice Opera. The teams will then be drawn at random, consisting of one hip-hop dancer and one classical dancer. The teams will then have a few hours to prepare for the final competition in the evening at the Opera.
